The IDEA League has lots of needs and a wide variety of roles for volunteers. Whatever your set of skills and interests, if you are willing to give some of your time and talents, we can use your help! Below is some information about our committees, fondly called “Tiger Teams” in honor of our mascot, Telly the Tiger, and the tiger parents who have organized them. We also need volunteers to coordinate regional IDEA League activities. If you are willing to serve on one of these committees or in any capacity, please contact Kim Skriba and she will help you find your niche.
Scientific Development and Medical Education
Team Leader: Angela Black, MD
Liases with individuals and groups on scientific exchanges in regards to Dravet syndrome.
Family/Caregiver Education and Support
Team Leader: Kimberly Skriba
Implements networking opportunities and support mechanisms for families and caregivers of individuals with Dravet syndrome.
International Development
Team Leader: Marie Baker
Promoting greater awareness and understanding of Dravet syndrome internationally. Assists with registering IDEA League chapters around the world.
Website Development and Technology
Team Leader: Paul Skluzacek
Increases web visibility and boosts the content of the IDEA League website.
Communications and Newsletter
Team Leader: Karen Glenn
Communicates information on activities taking place within the League, as well as research, treatment and coping strategies relating to Dravet syndrome.
Public Relations and Media
Team Leader: Clare Carey
Ensures our organization had a positive public image and publicizes IDEA League events.
Treasury
Team Leader: Patti Thistle
Oversees the budget, pays bills and complies with reporting requirements.
Policy Development
Team Leader: John McMahan, Esq.
Oversees appropriate policies and procedures that are in place for the IDEA League.
Fundraising
Team Leader:
Monitors fundraising efforts to ensure ethical practices are in place, that donors are acknowledged and that all fundraising efforts are cost effective.
Bi-Annual Professional and Family Conference 2010
Team Leader: Marilyn Baker, Executive Director
Organizes, plans and executes the IDEA League's 3rd Biannual Family & Professional conference.
SPONSOR FAMILIES NEEDED
We are looking for a members from each of the states and countries that can serve to answer questions of members who are looking for a particular doctor, therapist, clinic, dentist, teacher, school, etc. in that specific state or area. Or just someone these families can talk to. We all know how it felt before we found the IDEA League. There is nothing better than finally meeting or talking to another family with a child with Dravet syndrome. Please consider becoming a sponsor family.
